Well, I’ve been home with a sick child for the past two days, and I’m just resurfacing now in the real world. Poor Jacob has strep throat and was running a high fever (103!), so we spent two days on the couch, watching cartoons, eating ice pops, and generally being miserable. He’s feeling better today, though he wasn’t permitted to return to school, so he’s taking another day at home to recuperate.

In the meantime, I missed doing a Valentine post, which is ok because I think the day is cheesy. I did get some really good news, though: my poem “Lot’s Daughters” won the peer award over at Boxcar Poetry Review – it was voted the best poem of the issue by my co-contributors and some previous contributors to the magazine as well. Sweet!

  1. WTG on the Boxcar awarding, most deserved Rachel. Hope you both stay healthy. I know, being a single parent is quite a balancing act sometimes. I always enjoy reading you, continued luck out there!
