  1. What a ridiculous piece of crap. What’s scariest, in my opinion, is the fact that it looks like a fairly recent recording.

  3. Yeah, well, I can’t even take it seriously. It’s so alarmist, it’s funny.

And besides, we’re already here, you know?

  5. What the FUCK – of course the dude narrating has a redneck accent. Fucking A christ on a stick. Jesus never said he anything against gay people, so why do these so-called Christians?

  7. Well, it is based around Eureka Springs, Arkansas. So yeah, southern accent would fit.

I mean, again, it’s ridiculous – the sensationalism used in the video, the urgency, the sense of outrage. And of course the carefully chosen language (Feministing has the transcript up) – “infiltrated,” “very moral fiber,” “branded.” And they say “activist” as if it’s a bad thing.

It’s pretty clear that the fundamentalist evangelical Church is afraid, and pretty desperate. They’re struggling to keep their members phobic and intolerant in a time when the gay community has made some pretty good strides.

There are plenty of rhetorical responses one can use to counter this kind of thing – “Jesus never said anything about gay people, so…” is just one of them. But we already know we’re not dealing with people who are willing to learn or accept new ideas.

It’s not worth the energy, to me, to fight. I’d rather laugh.
